Trouble with Twitters

So what’s all this twitter stuff about?

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.
Updates are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. The sender can restrict delivery to those in his or her circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can receive updates via the Twitter website, SMS, RSS, email or through an application such as Twitterrific or Facebook. For SMS, four gateway numbers are currently available: short codes for the United States, Canada, and India, as well as a United Kingdom-based number for international use. Several third parties offer posting and receiving updates via email. Source Wikipedia.

Thinking outside the box

Twitter has exploded in growth this past year, people are continuing to find different ways to use it. Radio stations have replaced call in in some markets with asking users to @ reply to their twitter posts. Everyone is talking about twitter, but still many are unsure of what it is and more are unsure of how to use it.

One example of a new way to use twitter is something we are doing in East Lansing next year. We are integrating twitter into our Digital Outdoor campaigns. Using a strategic partnership with our outdoor company Wharton Center will have a Wharton Center coming soon slide that rotates in but also features the latest twitter post.
